The short answer to this is NO. Finish your robot BEFORE the event. This is a very important thing that most people often overlook. Bot builders are plagued with procrastination and have a very bad habit of staying up for days before an event in a last ditch effort to complete the robot.
The sooner you finish you robot the better! The time before the event can be spent testing the robot for weak spots and the next tip, driving.
